I am from Cape Elizabeth, Maine.  In May 2013, I graduated  from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York.; majoring in Architectural Studies and minoring in environmental studies and studio art. My intentions are to make a career out of design. Some of my design interests include; adaptable reuse, green design, landscape design, and urban planning.

 

Currently I am interning at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA. Longwood is a large public display garden that attracts visitors from all over the world. My internship entails working alongside the Display Designer who is responsible for the seasonal displays in the Main Conservatory. I also get to work with other members of the staff who deal with design in the outdoor gardens, which can include seasonal displays as well as permenent installations. All in all it has been a very well rounded position because there is something new to do each day. I have been very fortunate to have full access to all of Longwood's design programs on the computer, so I use AutoCAD and the Adobe Creative Suite daily. It has been a great way to transfer over the skills I learned in school while continuing to learn more each day. I have enjoyed everyday of my internship and I look forward to exploring more opportunities in the design world and continuing my journey as a designer.  

 

While at HWS I participated on the William Smith Varsity Golf team and William Smith Club Ice Hockey team. Athletics are very important to me because they are not only fun but also promote cooperation and cohesiveness in individuals ability to work with others, commitment, a healthy lifestyle, and competition. During my spring semester of junior year I traveled abroad to Rome, Italy. I was able learn about a new culture and enhance my studies by keeping a sketchbook and taking notes of my surroundings. I lived among other HWS students in which I gained many new friendships. While abroad we were able to travel to different parts of the country and see how unique and beautiful Italy is. 

 

There are many other interests of mine that include, sailing, tennis, soccer, biking, cooking, traveling, hiking, gardening, animals, nature, being outdoors and exploring.
